Jonathan (Jonny) Maia is a Latin Grammy-awarded Brazilian music producer and sound engineer recognized in the domestic and international music scenes. He has worked with several artists such as Lulu Santos, Ivete Sangalo, Michel Telo, Claudia Leite, Carlinhos Brown, Seu Jorge, Marcelo Jeneci, Emicida, Tiago Iorc, Vinicius D’black, among other famous Brazilian artists. In 2020, the album ‘Amarelo’ by Emicida was nominated in two categories Best Portuguese Language Rock or Alternative Album and Best Portuguese Language Song, winning the first one. In this same edition, Jonny also made part of the album ‘Guaia’ by Marcelo Jeneci, nominated in the category Best Portuguese Language Contemporary Pop Album.
In 2019, he participated as a recording engineer for the album ‘Reconstrução’ by Tiago Iorc alongside notable producers and sound engineers, including Mário Caldato Jr, Roberto Pollo, Robert Carranza, among other well-known names in the industry. The album received two nominations for the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards and won Best Song in Portuguese with “Desconstrução.”
For ten years, Jonny integrated with Rede Globo, where he worked as a recording/monitor engineer for entertainment programs, including “The Voice Brasil,” which received or awarded Globo Entertainment 2014, and “The Voice Kids,” which was nominated for Emmy 2017, Super Star and Pop Star. In the live-music scenario, Jonny worked as FOH/Monitor engineer with the greatest names in the industry. He had the opportunity to work and tour with artists like Anitta, Sergio Mendes, Seu Jorge, Roge, Gretchen Parlato, Googoosh, Debi Nova, Vella and many more. Prior to COVID-19 he had the chance to work at Blue Whale Jazz Club. Currently living in the United States, Jonny Maia improves his musical talent by surrounding himself with the industry’s best artists. He has been developing his skills in several studios and masterclasses, such as Capitol Studio, East-West, and NRG.
